Formula D Round 7: Title Fight 2013

Words by Gilbert,

As the Formula D seasons comes to another close and a new champion is crowned, the venue returns to Irwindale Speedway. This time, we didn’t have a booth so I just headed to the venue just as it was opening to the public. For future reference, show up early because parking was ridiculous at that time and I almost couldn’t find a spot. On to the show side, I didn’t have track access again so I couldn’t get any of the awesome drifting action so there’s only model coverage from the Vendor spaces that occupy the car show side.

SpoCom 2013 Model Coverage

Words by Gilbert.

SpoCom is still one of the major popular shows to attend in so cal and this year was a great example of that. Plenty of models to go around, lots of cars with some fun and interesting builds, and did I mention there were lots of models? The event also caters to the Dancers as they have contests every year which you get the local dance crews to perform on stage and see what they’re capable of. I used to be more into that kind of stuff when America’s Best Dance Crew was still around but as of late, I haven’t had much interest in it, but it’s nice to see that there’s still nice competition going around.

Formula D Round 1: Streets of Long Beach

Words and Photos by Gilbert

The Formula D Season kicks off its first event on the Streets of Long Beach. Traditionally the weekend before the Long Beach Grand Prix and this year continues to do so.  Unfortunately for myself, I couldn’t get track-access so I didn’t get to go up close to the drifting action to shoot the coverage, but I still did my usual thing covering all the lovely ladies working the show.  Although there wasn’t exactly a model lounge, it kinda makes things a bit interesting to find models spread throughout the venue.  Although, I apologize for completely missing the JDM Sport booth, I heard there was a large group of models chilling over there.  Also, I need to give a big Shoutout to Freddie of Autofashion x TrendyVape for giving me a spot to camp out and put my gear down when I needed a break. Also, be sure to check out TrendyVape when you’re down in San Diego for your Vaping needs!

DSPORT Meet Up presented by Nongshim America

Words and Photos by Gilbert.

This past Sunday, Nongshim America hosted a meet in conjunction with DSPORT and the up and coming Reality Show #RollModels where it’s based on the lives of 6 Import Models in the scene today at K1 Speed, Irvine, CA. There was a decent turnout in a good variety of cars and Its JDM Yo!!! had a huge presence there as well.  The day was filled with various activities that the models had to perform to win “points” on the show and basically was a head to head competition.  The models in attendance in no particular order were Gina Darling, Danielle Lo, Michelle Yee, Nikita Esco, Beckie Joon and Melyssa Grace.

Big Abe was also in attendance doing his thing with the bling.

The Models were gathered together and basically went over the agenda of the day.

DSCF4169

First task at hand: Get people to sign up for new subscriptions for DSport.  The models quickly went to work getting people to sign up.

IMG_8256

The Second Task of the day was the Ramen Eating Contest. Models searched the crowd for potential competitors and I was chosen to team up with Team Danielle Lo.  A lot of people were thinking I would put up a good fight in the contest but I failed. Sorry Danielle that we didn’t win! Unfortunately I was participating in the contest so I don’t have any photos to show you guys but I’m sure there’s plenty of coverage of the event elsewhere on the web such as The Chronicles or Autoshowevents.

Which leads us to the 3rd Task the models had to do. Race Room was one of the vendors and they have this driving simulator game similar to Forza or Gran Turismo 5 for you gamers out there. The models were asked to participate in a race among themselves.

Just like real life, girls like to check their hair, make up, cell phone, etc… before driving, maybe even during…
IMG_8261

Competition was fierce since Gina Darling is a regular gamer model in the industry.

IMG_8265

After the Race Room races, they were brought into K1 Speed for some real go-kart action.

Such poise.

The final task of the day was the models gathered together to take a quick look at the remaining cars at the meet to decide which car they loved the most. The winner of the model’s favorite car was to receive 1 year’s supply of Nongshim Instant Ramen. Notbad.jpg

IMG_8448
Gina spotted our It’s JDM Yo!!! mascot acting silly in the crowd so she was pointing and laughing at him.

IMG_8450
Minh from Royal Origin got plenty of attention with his Lexus IS

IMG_8460
In the end, the battle was between our own GT-R35 driven by Slow Kuruma and our own BB6 Prelude driven by Chris R.
Slow Kuruma being a humble fellow decided to give his votes to Chris who took home the 1 year supply of Ramen.

IMG_8475
Later on, some announcements about the girls’ progress throughout the reality show. Michelle Yee was quite happy here.

Melyssa Grace was also celebrating a bit as well and receiving cheer from her co-stars.

Adventures With Big Abe – Pacific BMW Accessories Warehouse Blowout

Words by Gilbert Chen

This past Sunday the guys at MFest put together a BMW event over at Pacific BMW in Glendale where plenty of interesting and fun cars gathered together for this event.

They were probably pointing and laughing at the random cars that were doing burnouts and donuts when they were leaving the venue. For future reference: the donuts were free INSIDE the venue, they were freshly prepared with cinnamon or powdered sugar.

DSC01041

Then Abe made a bet that Danielle couldn’t lift him up so she set out to prove him wrong.

DSC01046

After the shenanigans outside, the girls were asked to pose with a set of tires in the facility, so eventually this happened.

Also, no date for Valentines this weekend? No worries, Big Abe got you covered with the Kuya Model Expo this Saturday at the Holiday Inn in Torrance. All the hottest models will be there! Visit our booth to see the lovelies Emma Rose and Raichelle Viado!

Mitsubishi Owner’s Day (MOD) 2012

Words and Photos by Gilbert.

It was a sunny Saturday morning and I Heart Radio Tickets were supposed to be on sale but Ticketmaster reported they were sold out in a record breaking 15 seconds of release to the general public. For Mitsubishi Owners that day, they were flocking to Cypress, CA to the Mitsubishi Headquarters for their annual meet/car show that’s dedicated to all makes and models of Mitsubishi.

I headed out a little later and while walking through the lot, I caught one of them showing its teeth at me.

NOS was also out in attendance with their Orange EVO and their booth

Of course, I wouldn’t be doing my job if there weren’t copious amounts of girl coverage as well.

I thought Road Race Engineering was pretty cool for having these cool sculptures out.

Ran into DSport out there as well and

While walking around, I noticed Miss Lynhthy at the Toyo Tires booth

Eventually, just wound up back at Road Race Engineering to watch the live Dynos and this:

Michelle Yee and Danielle Lo being themselves.

Holly Lee & Erica Ocampo was in attendance as well

And then from here on, I’ll just let the photos explain themselves.
