Extreme AutoFest 2013 Season Opener: Anaheim

Words by Gilbert.

This past Saturday kicked off the season opener for Extreme Autofest’s Car Show Tour in sunny Anaheim, CA. When I said sunny, I meant, fairly warm, upper 80s and 90s degree sunny so it was a fairly hot day to be running around outdoors for a car show. The usual setup at Autofest is there was one side that covered a lot of the Lowrider lifestyle and the other side was more of what you would see in the JDM/USDM/DTM tuner lifestyles. Megan Racing was also around to provide a Driftkhana course for some small scale drifting action throughout the day.  On the Lowrider side, there was the usual stunt driving and car bouncing/jumping contests as well. My usual coverage is just of the lovely models that attend these events and maybe some shenanigans with Big Abe.

Adventures with Big Abe

The models in the themed Heroes and Villains Lounge were running a bit late so Abe was probably playing Candy Crush on his phone trying to get that high score going.
DSCF4462

Lily Zenna Wang was probably one of the first models to show up to the show, her outfit was Catwoman, and again, Abe was still on that Candy Crush.
DSCF4466

Christina May was also setting up but also got dragged into the game with Abe, probably comparing high scores.
DSCF4468

Lily needed a little help with her costume so Will Curry of Extreme Autofest was more than happy to oblige.

Wandering around, I spotted Ellie Roxx from Limitless Society

Now with the show getting under way, Abe finally put down his game and started pointing out “Dat Ass” on Charmaine Glock

Shortly after the show started, Abe started photo-bombing the models’ photos, although I managed to get this one before he was fully ready.

Did I mention it was a hot day? Even Kuya Protection needs a breather.

Hooter’s of Long Beach Presents: Moulin Rouge! Bikini Contest

Words by Gilbert

So this past Tuesday, It’s JDM Yo!!! was invited to judge a local event happening at Hooters of Long Beach.  They had a Moulin Rouge themed bikini contest/fashion show going on and our very own Tony “Its JDM Yo!!!” Lee took part in judging the lovely girls.  All in all, it was an interesting experience because the girls all took a lap around the restaurant before climbing on the stage before the panel of judges.  I wasn’t able to get all the info on the judges but maybe Tony can fill it in later or on the instagram.

There was an intermission between the outfit changes, which is reasonable because it gave us time for some fun and games. They initially were looking for volunteers from the customers to participate in a little contest. Learning my lesson from the DSPORT event, I quickly volunteered someone else for the job and it fell on our It’s JDM Yo!!! mascot Philip “YoZilla”. Turns out the contest was a beer guzzling contest and we substituted Bay for the contest.

Formula D Round 1: Streets of Long Beach

Words and Photos by Gilbert

The Formula D Season kicks off its first event on the Streets of Long Beach. Traditionally the weekend before the Long Beach Grand Prix and this year continues to do so.  Unfortunately for myself, I couldn’t get track-access so I didn’t get to go up close to the drifting action to shoot the coverage, but I still did my usual thing covering all the lovely ladies working the show.  Although there wasn’t exactly a model lounge, it kinda makes things a bit interesting to find models spread throughout the venue.  Although, I apologize for completely missing the JDM Sport booth, I heard there was a large group of models chilling over there.  Also, I need to give a big Shoutout to Freddie of Autofashion x TrendyVape for giving me a spot to camp out and put my gear down when I needed a break. Also, be sure to check out TrendyVape when you’re down in San Diego for your Vaping needs!

My E-Vic wrapped with the custom Hello Kitty print from TrendyVape. Super trendy.

DSPORT Meet Up presented by Nongshim America

Words and Photos by Gilbert.

This past Sunday, Nongshim America hosted a meet in conjunction with DSPORT and the up and coming Reality Show #RollModels where it’s based on the lives of 6 Import Models in the scene today at K1 Speed, Irvine, CA. There was a decent turnout in a good variety of cars and Its JDM Yo!!! had a huge presence there as well.  The day was filled with various activities that the models had to perform to win “points” on the show and basically was a head to head competition.  The models in attendance in no particular order were Gina Darling, Danielle Lo, Michelle Yee, Nikita Esco, Beckie Joon and Melyssa Grace.

Big Abe was also in attendance doing his thing with the bling.

The Models were gathered together and basically went over the agenda of the day.

First task at hand: Get people to sign up for new subscriptions for DSport.  The models quickly went to work getting people to sign up.

IMG_8256

The Second Task of the day was the Ramen Eating Contest. Models searched the crowd for potential competitors and I was chosen to team up with Team Danielle Lo.  A lot of people were thinking I would put up a good fight in the contest but I failed. Sorry Danielle that we didn’t win! Unfortunately I was participating in the contest so I don’t have any photos to show you guys but I’m sure there’s plenty of coverage of the event elsewhere on the web such as The Chronicles or Autoshowevents.

Which leads us to the 3rd Task the models had to do. Race Room was one of the vendors and they have this driving simulator game similar to Forza or Gran Turismo 5 for you gamers out there. The models were asked to participate in a race among themselves.

Just like real life, girls like to check their hair, make up, cell phone, etc… before driving, maybe even during…
IMG_8261

Competition was fierce since Gina Darling is a regular gamer model in the industry.

IMG_8265

After the Race Room races, they were brought into K1 Speed for some real go-kart action.

IMG_8282

Such poise.

IMG_8285

Such Grace.

A little bit of downtime as the girls and the crew had their quick lunch of Nongshim Instant Ramen

The final task of the day was the models gathered together to take a quick look at the remaining cars at the meet to decide which car they loved the most. The winner of the model’s favorite car was to receive 1 year’s supply of Nongshim Instant Ramen. Notbad.jpg

IMG_8448
Gina spotted our It’s JDM Yo!!! mascot acting silly in the crowd so she was pointing and laughing at him.

Minh from Royal Origin got plenty of attention with his Lexus IS

In the end, the battle was between our own GT-R35 driven by Slow Kuruma and our own BB6 Prelude driven by Chris R.
Slow Kuruma being a humble fellow decided to give his votes to Chris who took home the 1 year supply of Ramen.

Later on, some announcements about the girls’ progress throughout the reality show. Michelle Yee was quite happy here.

Melyssa Grace was also celebrating a bit as well and receiving cheer from her co-stars.

Adventures with Big Abe – Formula D Tech Day + Model Meet & Greet

Words and Photos by Gilbert.

Formula D in conjunction with Source Interlink Media (Import Tuner, Super Street, etc) hosted a Tech Day Meet where they had the Formula D cars come into the facility for inspections and what not and people were allowed to catch a glimpse of the cars up close while they aren’t shredding tires on the streets. There was a big turnout as it doubled as a local car meet which followed the Popular Cars & Coffee meets that happen every Saturday morning down in Irvine as well.  In addition, there were several models in attendance signing calenders and cover issues of various magazines as well.
